58Finding Your Niche
Before you can begin marketing you need a product to market. Because there is so much competition in marketing you need a product that is unique and somewhat specialized.
Instead of selling to a broad base of people, you will have better results by marketing to a smaller group with a specific need for your product.
You need to identify the consumer group that you want to specifically market to. This is known as finding your niche.
Ideally, your product will be something that you are familiar with and use yourself.
It stands to reason that your niche would be something that you are interested in yourself.
If you are a marketer it could be marketing tools, listbuilding tools, anything that makes your job as a marketer easier. If you use the product that you are marketing then it puts you in a good position to highlight the products usefulness, and how well it works.
The same principle applies no matter what your niche is, whether it be sports related or painting. The important thing to remember is to market within your niche.
Once you have found your niche, you want to target your marketing to that niche.
Advertising to anyone outside of that niche is just a waste of time and resources.
If you advertise to people who are not interested in your product, they simply aren't going to buy anyway, so why bother?
Niche Marketing can be used in any type of business whether it is a Direct Sales or MLM type of business.
A Direct Sales business is where you generate income by your own efforts only.
When you make the sale, your income stops until you make the next sale. There usually is no residual income from Direct Sales.
In Multi Level Marketing your income is derived by not only your efforts but also the efforts on everyone else in your Team or Matrix.that is in your downline.
This downline usually consists of your direct referrals and their referrals down many generations. You benefit from your own efforts along with the efforts of everyone else in your team for as many levels as you are qualified for in any given MLM business.
This is known as leveraging your income, and over time can make you a nice residual income that never stops paying even after you have stopped working the business.
This is known as Walk Away Income, and is a really nice feature of this type of business. Unlike Direct Sales, in MLM you are paid forever after the sale is done.
There are as many flavors of MLM businesses as in any other type.
They market everything from Lotions Potions and Pills, to Education and Training.
MLM Marketers must also find a niche and interest to market.
There are some who like the Diet and Supplement markets, while others enjoy the Education and Training areas. It's merely a matter of choice and preference.
There is no real right or wrong choice, other than trying to market something you don't like or use. If you don't like your product, it will show, and your sales will suffer.
If you don't like your prroduct, you shouldn't be marketing it to begin with. Find something you do like instead.
Finding the right niche is important, and once found, will help your marketing efforts tremendously.
