The MLM Business Model

This article is intended as a brief overview of Muti - Level Maketing which is also referred to as MLM. It is also known as Network Marketing in that the intent is to Network with others in your group so that everyone will profit.

In short, MLM is a Business where you not only get paid from your first level of referrals, you also get paid from several levels. The amount of levels that you get paid on varies depending upon how a particular business is set up.

There are several programs that do not consider themselves to be MLM, however if you are paid on more than your first level then it actually is one.

MLM as a marketing model has been around for over 50 years. The concept is sound, it is profitable, and it has proven itself countless times in the many businesses that are based on it.

The basic idea is to is to leverage your own efforts as well as the efforts of everyone in your organization. The leverage comes into play through the efforts of not only you, but also the efforts of your downline.

For example, it is much easier to make money off of the efforts of 100 downline members than if you were to try and do all of that yourself.

You could loosely compare it to someone trying to build a house or even dig a foundation. If he does all of the work by himself it will be very hard and take a long time to do.

If there are many people helping him, the work will get done much faster and no one has to work nearly as hard to achieve the same result.

Instead of looking to your sponsor for help filling your downline, you should be helping your downline fill their own.

By ensuring that your downline is making money, you are ensuring your own income.

In the meantime, your sponsor should be making sure that you are making money because then he has assured his income.

The reason a lot of people don't succeed with MLM's is because they don't work them the way they should.

Your sponsor should be mentoring you, showing you and teaching you what to do and when. You should be mentoring you downline, and teaching them what to do and when.

Too often people are just left to figure things out on their own, they never get started then they drop out feeling used and disappointed.

This could have been avoided if only their sponsor would have looked beyond his own earnings and saw to it that his downline was being served. Instead, they both lost, and now one of them no longer likes MLM because it is too hard to do.

It isn't hard to do at all, it is really simple. There are only three basic steps involved.

But first you have to know what you want to sell. You have to find your niche.

Finding your Niche and other Aspects of Marketing while be covered in a future article..
